About SmartShelf
SmartShelf is a solo project. I'm George, an economics student in the UK, and I built it in my spare
time: part passion for food, and part wanting to keep tabs on the seemingly random discounts and loyalty
prices the UK supermarkets offer. It's for anyone curious about the price of their food, and anyone on a
budget trying to make the most of what they have.
SmartShelf helps you find the best-value groceries across the major UK supermarkets:
Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Aldi and M&S.
We gather publicly listed prices and rank products by price-per-unit
(£/kg, £/litre or each) so you can compare like-for-like and spot the cheapest option.
Where available we also show loyalty prices (Clubcard, Nectar, More Card)
and special offers, so you can see the true cost before you shop.
SmartShelf is purely an information service. We are independent, not affiliated with any
retailer, and we don't sell, supply or deliver anything. To buy a product, follow its link
to the relevant supermarket.
A note on coverage: Lidl does not currently publish its grocery
prices online, so it isn't included in our comparisons. If that changes, SmartShelf will add
Lidl automatically.
